Battle Report - Crimson Fists vs. Space Marines (1000 points)

Spoony and I didn't get to play at Games Day (there weren't any tables to play on) but we decided to do our best to get a game in at our hotel room. We set up a 6' x 4' area on the floor and used mugs, bowls, a tissue box, and a basket as terrain. Spoony's list: Captain in Terminator armour 10 Tactical Marines with missile launcher, flamer, and power fist 5 Tactical Marines in a Razorback Dread with assault cannon Venerable Dread with multi-melta Land Raider yellow marines! Battletech Clan Wolf

I thought this was the Red Keshik color scheme but it isn't really. Still, I think these look good and it was fun playing with Army Painter Speedpaints. I think they work really well on mechs and I probably spent more time waiting for them to dry than I did actually painting. White primer and then Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Slaughter Red and Gravelord Grey for the armor. Lenses were VGC Dead White, GW Contrast Talasar Blue, VMC Deep Sky Blue, and VGC Dead White. Lasers were GW Flash Gitz Yellow and VGC Dead White. Metals were Vallejo Metal Color Duraliminium and the new formula GW Nuln Oil. Base was Vallejo Earth Texture Brown Earth (unprimed) plus some gravel, Folk Art Linen, and new formula GW Agrax Earthshade with a VMC Black rim.

Khador Battlegroup Box

Another Mk2 battlegroup box from Warmachine. I've painted the Mk1 version of the box with the original, metal versions of these models. The 'jacks weighed a ton and I wasn't a very good painter at the time. I tried the same painting style as the Cygnar box but it worked a little less well on these because they have such giant armor panels. The Cygnar 'jacks had a lot of smaller panels that I think this style works better on. I do still like the decision to allow a single color to provide most of the interest - here the red on the 'jacks is the only color to receive a highlight. Base colors are Vallejo Metal Color Exhaust Manifold, Vallejo Metal Color Copper, and Games Workshop Khorne Red. I washed everything with new style Agrax Earthshade, and then highlighted the model with GW Khorne Red, Mephiston Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, and Wild Rider Red.
